The time of life for potty training is an important milestone in any child’s development. It’s important as parents to try to teach your children how to use the bathroom on their own as early as possible. Fortunately, there are wonderful methods and ways to get your child ready for potty training. Don’t feel that you alone are responsible for teaching them without some help. There are wonderful videos and books that can assist both you and your little one in learning how to use the bathroom. These books are designed to make your child feel good about themselves while encouraging independence and a spirit of accomplishment. Choose several different books and videos that feature your child’s favorite characters. This way, they can relate to the information they are receiving and will be much more receptive.
Rewarding your child when they complete potty training is a great way to instill positive reinforcement. Perhaps buying them a toy that they wanted or taking them to a special movie can help them to remember that by learning on their own, they are doing good. Another way to maintain what they’ve learned is to give them small rewards every time they accomplish the task on their own. This way, they have an incentive to do as they’re taught and can feel good about it as well. As many parents know, potty training time can be a little frustrating, but remember that this is a big rite of passage for your little one, and to be as patient as you possibly can. In time, your child will be able to use the restroom alone and without you having to worry about things like diapers or training undergarments any longer. Once that day arrives, you can breathe a sigh of relief and feel a sense of accomplishment knowing that this part of growing up has been completed.
