Pilot Training

Flying a plane is not only a wonderful experience and a great privilege, it is also an awesome responsibility. Since the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11th, the requirements for pilot training have gotten more stringent. If you are interested in becoming a pilot, it’s very important that you know what the prerequisites and requirements are before you sign up for any kind of program. A large part of what these will be will depend upon whether or not you plan on flying a private plane or whether you plan on flying commercially. First, attending flight school of some sort will obviously be required. These schools are usually fairly costly, so look into some pricing before you sign up. In addition, a part of pilot training is a vision test to determine that you have good peripheral and regular vision.

There are many elements involved in pilot training. Not only will you obviously have hands-on experience, but there is also a required test that must be taken. Usually this test is administered by the FAA and must be passed before you will be granted your pilot’s license. There are websites that will allow you to take a practice test beforehand so that you can gauge your knowledge and skills. You must first register for the test and provide a valid US identification before you may take the actual test. More than likely you will also participate in several “virtual reality” trial runs before actually going up in an airplane. Once this is complete, your instructor will be with you in an actual plane and show you how to physically operate it. Then, they will allow you to experience flight firsthand. With skill and a lot of practice, pilot training can be a fun and exciting experience that should send your spirits soaring high above the clouds.
